Mr. Qian Yongchang Highly Praises “Timely GSS Opening”

2009 4th GSS will be held in Dalian on Oct 23rd. and its theme and styles have gained praise from Mr. Qian Yongchang. Mr. Qian claims that this GSS is convened timely to bring more hope and way out for the whole shipping industry to come out of the stagnancy. He gives his hope for GSS to be more pragmatic.

Taking “Consolidating during Flattening” as them, this GSS will discuss the shipping situation and future potential facing the financial crisis to find one or several way out for the whole shipping industry and seek common development of the whole shipping industry. Meanwhile, GSS forum and business connection seminar will bring benefit to attendees.
Mr. Yongchang Qian was born in Shanghai, China in 1933. In 1953 he graduated from Dalian Maritime University as bachelor of Navigation. He joined the Communist Party of China in July, 1953, and was once the member of 12th and 13th CPC central committee. In 1960 he was the first-generation captain of new China.

In 1974 he was engaged in the maritime management work as the general director of COSCO Shanghai, the general manager of COSCO head office and the director of Maritime Administration of the National Ministry of Communications

In 1982 he was the standing vice minister of the National Ministry of Communications

In 1984 he took the position of the minister of the National Ministry of Communications

Presently, Mr. Qian is the Chairman of China Communication and Transportation Association, Vice Chairman of Chinese Institute of Navigation, Senior Advisor of China Federation of Industrial Economics and Senior advisor of China Association of the Port-of-Entry. He is also the professor of Dalian Maritime University, Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University of Technology, etc.
